GARRISON - Daniel L. Jaeger, 71, Garrison, died Nov. 18, 2010, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison. Burial will be at the St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison.
Daniel L. Jaeger was born Jan. 31, 1939, to Anton and Gertrude (Muffenbier) Jaeger in Rugby. He was raised and educated at Little Flower Catholic School and Rugby High School.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1958. He served two of those three years in Germany. He was honorably discharged in1961. In 1962 - 1964 he attended and graduated from North Dakota State School of Science with a degree in Electronics Technology.
On Aug. 1, 1964, he married Cecilia A. Burckhard of Berwick. Dan was employed by an oil company in Ohio for a period of five months and then decided to move back to North Dakota to work in the field of TV repairs. After one year, they moved to Garrison to buy a TV and Appliance business. He always wanted to be self employed. During that time, he managed the Northview Trailer Court. In 1970, he started farming in Mercer. He was also employed by Metzger's Electronics and Sales in Minot. In 1971, he began farming and ranching in the Butte area where he farmed until he retired in 2005.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent countless hours restoring stationary engines. Once he became a grandfather, his world changed as he knew it. He spent as much time as he could teaching them his love of the outdoors. He and Tyler enjoyed spending time together hunting, fishing, going for drives and playing sports. He and Mackenzie always had fun fishing, riding the go-cart and playing basketball. This was such precious time together.
Dan served on the Kief and Butte Elevators' Board. Dan was active in the local FFA. In 1984 he was awarded Honorary Chapter Farmer
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia; son, Brad, Butte; daughter, Cindy (Brent) Jacobson, Garrison; two grandchildren, Tyler and Mackenzie Jacobson; a step-granddaughter, Kayleigh Lassle Matheson; brothers, Stanley (Gayle), Grand Forks, and Roger (Cherie) Fargo; and sisters, Adeline, Grand Forks, Sally (Ervin) Grabanski, Alvorado, Minn., and Janice (Mark) Klayson, Garrison.
Dan was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother, Richard.
