Daniel Pavlicek, 30, Bismarck, died April 3, 2001, in a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. MDT in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a prayer service and rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
A special visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon today at Standing Rock Community School, Fort Yates.
Daniel was born Jan. 23, 1971, in Dickinson, to Donald and Geraldine (McLaughlin) Pavlicek. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1989 and received his bachelors degree in social sciences from Dickinson State University in 1994. Daniel married Jacinta Filipi May 28, 1994, in Dickinson.
Daniel started teaching at Standing Rock Community School in 1995, where he was currently teaching. He was awarded "Outstanding High School Teacher of the Year" for Standing Rock Community School in 1998-1999.
Daniel coached girls basketball, was a student council advisor, class advisor and a member of the school improvement process committee. He was also a member of Lewis and Clark Curriculum Development Committee for the state of North Dakota. Dan was nominated by his students and most recently won the Golden Apple Award.
Daniel loved hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He especially loved spending time with his daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Jacinta; his daughters, Elizabeth and Ava; his mother, Geraldine Pavlicek, Dickinson; his brothers, Greg, Iowa, Mike, Minnesota, and Jim, Dickinson; and his grandmother, Alvina McLaughlin, Beulah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don; and his grandparents, Bea and Ed Pavlicek and Joe McLaughlin.
