Doran Brandt Obituary

Doran Jay Brandt

May 4, 1957 - June 11, 2025

Doran Jay Brandt, 68, died peacefully at home on June 11, 2025, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at English Lutheran Church, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. CT, with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating.

Doran was born to Carroll Brandt and Glenda Orke at Saint Andrews hospital in Bottineau N.D., on May 4, 1957.

In 1976 he received his welding certificate from NDSCS in Wahpeton, N.D.

Doran married his loving wife, Kimberly Schaeffer, on June 13, 1981. Together they have two wonderful children and four grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren's activities.

He was employed with North American Coal for 33 years. In his free time he ran an excavating business, safe to say he loved to play in the dirt!

Dad was a man of integrity and hard work.

Doran is survived by his wife, Kimberly; son, Brody (Melissa); daughter, Brier (Rob); four grandchildren, McKenna, Harper, Lawson, and Bentley; best friend, Frankie; siblings, Raoul (Rima), Bruce (Ana), Guy, Craig (Deb), Penny (Bob); in-laws, Mike (Bonnie), Sherri (Randy); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda Orke, Don Orke, Carroll Brandt; father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Lucy Schaeffer; and sister-in-law, Marj Brandt.

The family requests memorials be made to Bismarck Cancer Center and Coal Country Animal rescue.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
