Endel Kent, 91, went to heaven on June 9, 2017, after a lingering illness, at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at St. Fancis deSales Catholic Church, Steele, with the Rev. Jerome Hunkler officiating. Burial will be held at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Napoleon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church, where an evening prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
He was born in Panea, Estonia on Jan. 28, 1926. He left his home country of Estonia in his teen years and at that time he was separated from his family due to war. Sometime thereafter, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and survived World War II. During Endel's service in the U.S. Army he received a Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter Badge and had mechanical and medical training. He married Luella Rose Silbernagel on Nov. 4, 1957 and to this union, a son was born, Endel Anthony Kent Jr. The family resided in Steele, where Endel worked as a mechanic at International Harvestor. He was an active member of the American Legion for 50 plus years. He enjoyed working on vehicles, machinery and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Luella Rose Kent; his son, Endel Anthony Kent Jr.; his grandchildren, William C. Herring, Stephanie S. Giannini, and Ashlie D. Vance; and his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one twin brother.
