Eugene Voegele

BEULAH - Eugene Voegele, 89, Beulah, died Jan. 30, 2009, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Mary Lou Aune officiating. Burial will be in Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Eugene was born June 20, 1919, at Tolstoy, S.D., the son of Jacob B. and Christianna (Ritter) Voegele. The family moved to a homestead north of Glen Ullin, where Eugene spent his childhood. He attended school in the Glen Ullin area. As a young man, Eugene enlisted in the CC's and on June 26, 1941, entered the U.S. Army, serving in WWII for over four years. On Oct. 12, 1948, Eugene and Linda Raeszler were married in Beulah. They began farming in the Glen Ullin area. In 1959, they bought a farm north of Beulah. Eugene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens and the VFW. For a few years, Eugene helped at Seibel Funeral Home working visitations. Eugene liked playing card games, bus tours, visiting friends and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, Beulah; three sons, Virgil and Sue, Randy and Arlis, and Bruce and Melissa Voegele, all of Beulah; six grandchildren, Tonia Knudson, Beulah, Jason Voegele, Ladera Ranch, Calif., Chad Voegele, Owatonna, Minn., Heather Andersen, Omaha, Neb., Matthew Voegele, Ladera Ranch, Calif., and Mikayla Voegele, Beulah; three great-grandchildren, Austin Burwick and Jorryn and Tavin Voegele; two brothers, Alvin and Milton Voegele, both of Bismarck; and one uncle, Fred Voegele, Bismarck.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Delton; one sister, Ruth Kinnischtzke; and his brothers, Ted, Bill, Dan and Otto Voegele.
