Gary Kincaid Obituary

Gary Lee Kincaid

April 22, 1953 - April 23, 2025

Gary Lee Kincaid, 72, Mandan, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society - Miller Pointe, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM, on Monday, April 28, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan with Rev. Phil Leer officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 3:00 PM, at DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan.

Gary was born April 22, 1953, at Kalispell, Montana, to Melbourne and Christine (Markos) Kincaid. The family moved to Mandan soon after and he attended rural elementary school and Mandan High School. Gary loved all sports with a special passion for baseball. He pitched and played many games for the American Legion Club. After high school, Gary attended BSC and worked as an electrician with his dad at Kincaid Electric. He later earned his Master Electrician Certification and became a member of the IBEW. He worked many places, and his last employment was with Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Gary and Patricia (Gustin) Kincaid were married on May 11, 1984, and spent almost 41 years together. During those years, sports remained a big part of the Kincaid family. Gary coached his son Jake's little league baseball teams, and they continued going to baseball and basketball games throughout Jake's high school years and beyond. Rarely did he and his wife Patty miss any games. If they were not able to attend, they had a radio close by and posted updates on Facebook to keep all the fans informed. Gary was an announcer for the Mandan Chiefs baseball club home games and was inducted into the Mandan Post 40 Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012. Gary was also very committed and connected to the Special Olympics. He donated endless hours with his son Ben, coaching, fundraising, promoting, and supporting these special athletes. Again, he attended almost every swim meet, track event, basketball tournament, bowling or whatever sport. Most likely donated time to help organize and run these events.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Patricia; sons, Ben and Jacob (Samantha); granddaughters, Gianna and Mila; brother, Wade (Birdie); sisters, Dianne Knell, and Rhonda (Perrie) Schafer; sisters-in-law, Donna Lacher (friend Russell), Debbie Gustin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who affectionately referred to him as Uncle-G or G-Man. He will be missed by many.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Melbourne and Christine Kincaid; in-laws, Thomas and Katheryn Gustin; brother-in-law, Richard Knell.

The Kincaid family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Staff and hospice who took care of him at the Bismarck Cancer Center and Miller Pointe. Your care did not go unnoticed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorials be made to the Mandan Baseball Club or Mandan Special Olympics.

Funeral arrangements are being made with DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, Mandan, North Dakota.

Gary was a good high school friend to my brother (Cheese) and I remember him being at our house a lot. My dad was very active in Legion Baseball and it meant so much when Gary showed up at Dad's funeral wearing a Legion baseball shirt. What an honor to show, but, that was Gary's integrity, wasn't it? Heaven got a special angel.
