Harvey Hobbs Obituary

PICK CITY -- Harvey Hobbs, 70, Pick City, and formerly of Dunseith, died Jan. 15 in a Bismarck hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services were held on Jan. 18 at Peace Lutheran Church, Dunseith. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Dunseith.

Harvey Hobbs, a son of Harvey A. and Etta (Sharrett) Hobbs, was born in Rolette, on July 26, 1928. He was reared and attended school in Dunseith. After completing his education he began working with his father at the Dunseith Hide and Fur Company. On Sept. 15, 1950, he entered the U.S. Army. He was discharged on Nov. 14, 1952. He returned to Dunseith and continued working with his father. On June 29, 1957, he was married to Arvilla Wolf in Bottineau. In 1959 they purchased the Lake Metigoshe Store at Lake Metigoshe. In 1965 they purchased a ranch at Lake Metigoshe where they raised cattle. In 1972, they moved to Crosby and purchased a farm where he worked until he retired. In 1994 they moved to Pick City where they have resided since.

He is survived by his wife, Arvilla; two sons, Steven, Fort Kolbe, Panama, Central America, and Scott and his wife, Teresa, Pick City; two grandchildren, Serina Hobbs and Scott Hobbs Jr.; one sister, Viola Ziegler, McMinnville, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews. (Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau)
