Jackie Mann Obituary
Services for Jackie Ann Mann, 45, Perham, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, with the Rev. Karin Moberg officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Memorial Cemetery. Following a large candlelight prayer vigil, Jackie died Nov. 20, 2003, at home with many family members present.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham.
Jackie was born June 11, 1958, in Jamestown, N.D., to Eugene and Marilyn (Skaff) Schlafman. She grew up and attended school in Bismarck until 1974 when her family moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn. She graduated from Detroit Lakes Senior High School in 1976. Following graduation, she earned a bachelors degree in social studies receiving her teaching certificate from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minn. She was united in marriage to Jeff Mann on June 6, 1981, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Moorhead, where Jackie taught both junior and senior high school.
After starting her family, she had a licensed home day care for several years. This interest led to a position with Child Care Choices to administer home day care food service programs. After moving to Perham, her focus was on her family and church. She was actively involved with Brownies, local gymnastics programs creating a "Just for Kicks" program for area youth, and teaching Sunday school classes.
Jackie left a legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Mann, Perham; her parents, Eugene and Marilyn Schlafman, Florence, Ariz.; her three children, Brian, Minneapolis, and Aaron and Elizabeth, both of Perham; her three sisters, Debbie (Alex) Hager, New Salem, Laurie Rohde (Lane Olsen), Bismarck, and Kathy (Mark) Sebastian, Omaha, Neb.; many nieces and nephews; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chuck and Angie Mann, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Mann, Park Rapids, Minn., and Kevin (Shawna) Mann, Detroit Lakes; her sister-in-law, Karyn (Mike) Loos, New London, Minn.; and many area friends.
