James Helmenstein

James Dean Helmenstein, 44, Mandan, was found dead Dec. 25, 2007, in Mandan. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.

Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to service.

Jim was born in Bismarck July 20, 1963, to Darrell and Marian (Solum) Helmenstein. Jim attended schools in Bismarck and Mandan, graduating in 1980. He attended the vo-tech center at BSC, majoring in auto mechanics. Jim loved to do landscaping and worked for various lawn services throughout Bismarck-Mandan. He was currently employed with Val's Auto Beauty Center, in Mandan. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his son, Talon, and his best friend, Jimbo. He enjoyed car racing, working on cars and anything automotive related. He also enjoyed driving remote control nitro cars. He loved to be outdoors, camping, working in the yard, etc. He was a wonderful caring person and was willing to help anyone in need.

Jim is survived by his fiance, Christy Ames, and his son, Talon Ames, both of Mandan; his sisters, Kim (Kenny) Franklund, Wilton, and Donna Grenz, Sharon Grenz and Marley (Hal) Bauer, all of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian Helmenstein and Darrell Helmenstein; and his sister, Brenda Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred for Talon's future college fund.
