James "Jim" Renner
GLEN ULLIN - Funeral Mass for James "Jim" Renner, 87, of Glen Ullin, will be 10:30 a.m., CT, Wednesday January 18, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m., - 7:00 p.m., CT., Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the church with a rosary and vigil being held at 6:00 p.m CT.
Jim passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.
James Renner was born on July 12, 1935 to John M and Mary (Tkach) Renner in Glen Ullin. Growing up he attended country school and helped on his family farm. He was married to Theresa Schumacher on November 14, 1955 in St. Benedict's Catholic Church. To this union five children were born: Rita, Brenda, Randy, Fay, and Rick. Together they worked for several years south of Glen Ullin, until 1959 when they moved into town and purchased the Cream Station. They operated it while raising their children in Glen Ullin. Jim worked as a foreman for many years with F&J. Jim was proud to live at the Marian Manor for the last four months, residing in the building that he oversaw the construction of years ago. He also helped build Glen Ullin High School and many other projects around North Dakota. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lions, Knights of Columbus and The Eagles. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, cooking, hunting and fishing.
Jim is survived by his children Rita (Duane) Opp, Brenda Renner, Randy (Jerilyn) Renner and Rick Renner; grandchildren, Kay (Anton) Kruger, Kylie (Nathan) Chapman and Maggie (David) Mueller; and great grandchildren, John, Noah, Andrew and Luke Kruger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; his parents; an infant daughter, Fay; brothers, Eddie, Ernest and Lawrence Renner; and sisters, Alice Thomas, Eleanor Meuchel, and infant sister, Annie.
