Michael Wayne Renner

Michael Wayne Renner, age 86, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on March 15, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center -Sault. He was born on January 12, 1940, in Adrian, Michigan, to Blayne and Dortha (Ames) Renner.

Mike grew up in Adrian where he graduated from Adrian High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army before attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his career, Mike worked with the Soil Conservation Service and the Department of Natural Resources, dedicating his efforts to environmental stewardship and conservation.

In his free time, Mike found great joy outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and he had a talent for woodworking, particularly wood carving.

Mike is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Michelle (David) Curtis; grandchildren, Michael (Maddie) Pluto, Garrett (Martina) Markstrom, Kaela (Collin) Oosse; great-grandchildren, Aaron Pluto, Caroline Markstrom; brother Roger (Sandra) Renner; nieces, Jessica Renner, Suzanne (Seth) Jennings; and grand-niece, Gibson Jennings.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Blayne and Dortha; and great-grandchild, Briar Markstrom.

Per Mike's wishes, there will be no services.
