Kathy Tuhy Hummel, 63, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at her home in Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Parkway Funeral service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Pastor Kevin Lardy officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.
Kathy was born on March 29, 1956, in Dickinson. She was raised by her parents, Vincent and Dorothy Tuhy, on a farm north of South Heart. Following graduation from South Heart High School in 1974, she attended North Dakota State School of Science. After receiving a dental hygiene degree in 1978, she married Craig Hummel from Mott. They began married life in Maryville, Tenn., where she worked as a hygienist for three years. They moved to Rochester, Minn., for one year before moving to Mott.
Kathy worked as a hygienist in Mott for six years before they moved to Bismarck. Kathy then worked for Dental Associates Inc. in Mandan for another twenty years before retiring.
Kathy loved musky fishing, boating and cruising mountains with Craig on a motorcycle. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, traveling and astronomy. In her younger years she liked riding horses and snow skiing. She loved her cats, Sambo, Dinkums, Tiffy, Brandy, Sammy and Joey.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Craig; her pet fur baby, Joey; her mother, Dorothy Tuhy; brother, Duane; and niece, Kristi; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Marilyn Hummel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Yvonne Hummel, Cliff and Brenda Crawford, Ron and Patty Tangen, Larry and Valerie Robinson, Kent and Deanna Hummel; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Vincent Tuhy; sister-in-law, Janet Hummel; and her beloved cats, Sambo, Dinkums, Tiffy, Brandy and Sammy.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Minneapolis Branch, or the Central Dakota Humane Society, Mandan.
