Kelly Renae (Hanna) Lange, 50, Pleasanton, Calif., passed away from complications of chronic illnesses on Aug. 27, 2017, at her home in Nebraska. Kelly rejoined her father at Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna, Neb., in a private service followed three days later by a memorial interment at Riverview Cemetery, Wilton.
A Celebration of her life will commence at a later date in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Born to David and Karen (Watts) Hanna in Hastings, Neb., on Aug. 7, 1967, she attended Austintown Fitch High School in Ohio where she excelled in cross country and track. In 1989, she went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Kent State University. For Kelly, the sky was the limit. Being the adventurous young woman that she was, Kelly packed her bags and headed west to California. She soon landed a nursing job at the prestigious Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. Her business acumen and love of nursing gave rise to the creation of Hanna's Home Healthcare which she built from the ground up. She was proud that the HHH family was regarded as the premier provider of home healthcare in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.
While Kelly was pouring herself into building her business, she gained strength from the rescue animals that she adopted and nurtured. She had a soft spot for shar-peis and pitbulls which was shared by her husband, Reylan "Buzz" Lange, formerly of Wilton. On Kelly and Reylan's wedding day, May 31, 2008, their rescue dogs Hewey and Mackey, dressed to the nines in tuxedos, proudly walked the couple's rings down the aisle at Ruby Hill Winery in Pleasanton.
Kelly appreciated the details and in this day and age of social media, she valued a good old-fashioned handwritten letter. She was affectionately known as the giver of perfect gifts and author of the most thoughtful cards. Her favorite quote from Robert Harling "I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special" was a concept that she believed in and lived.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, David L. Hanna; her grandparents, Glen and Bethyne Hanna; and her maternal grandparents, Duane and Cora Watts. She was also preceded in death by her furry children who "went to college" - Sinjin, Hewey, Husker, Nachos and Oliver.
Kelly is survived by her husband, Reylan Lange; as well as a stepdaughter Dacotah (Lange) Stewart and husband, Jono; Reylan's father, Paul Lange and wife, Lois; her mother, Karen Hanna and husband, Jack Bowe; her brother, Mark Hanna; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also leaves behind her HHH family, many loving friends, and furry children, Mackey and Indy.
In memory of Kelly, a donation may be made to any no-kill animal rescue organization of the donors' choice.
