Lloyd E. Houstman, 98, Bismarck, went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2014, at Baptist Health Care Center, with his loving family by his side. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Bismarck Baptist Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
Lloyd was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Underwood, to Lloyd A. and Mathilda Houstman. He was raised and educated in Turtle Lake.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Violet Fischer on Nov. 27, 1935, in Turtle Lake. In 1941, they moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where Lloyd was employed with the U.S. Maritime Commission, where he built engines for the Liberty Ships.
In 1948, they moved back to Bismarck. In 1956, they moved to California and then back to Bismarck in 1988.
Lloyd was active in the Bismarck Baptist Church and a volunteer at the Bismarck Senior Center. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Joan (Keith) Kruckenberg, Wilton; his son, Dennis (Jeneene) Houstman, Bismarck; his grandchildren, RoyceAnn (Michael) Basayne, Blaine Kruckenberg, Marc Woodward, Darrin Houstman and Kevin (Lisa) Houstman; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Conn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, who will miss him dearly.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet Houstman; one brother, Dareld Houstman; one sister, Ann Janke; and one great-grandchild, Kenny Kruckenberg.
