Lois Steffens Samuelson was born Aug. 21, 1932, in rural Wahpeton, to Henry and Emma (Hellwege) Steffens. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tyler. Lois graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1950, and attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton and then worked at banks in Wahpeton, Ames, Iowa, and Bismarck, for 10 years.
She was united in marriage to Harry "Skip" Samuelson on June 21, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, and lived in Bismarck for the next two years. Her husband's employment with the Federal Highway Administration took them to Ames, Iowa, Pierre, S.D., Indianapolis, Ind., and to Bismarck in 1968, where he worked until his retirement in 1987.
Lois became a stay-at-home mom with their two daughters, which gave her the most satisfaction. Since her husband's retirement, they spent 26 winters in Mesa, Ariz. She and her husband enjoyed taking many tours and cruises and visited all 50 states and several foreign countries.
Lois is survived by her husband, Skip; her two daughters and sons-in-law, LeAnn and Brian Mohler, Bismarck, and Lori and Thomas Priebe, Danvers, Ill.; two grandchildren, Sierra and Luke Priebe, Danvers, Ill.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Emery Steffens, Fargo, and Lee and Karen Steffens, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Melvin; her sister, Lorraine Larson; her brother-in-law, Ralph Larson; her sister-in-law, Margaret Steffens; and one nephew, Michael Steffens.
