Lucas Held Obituary

MOFFIT -- Lucas W. Held Sr., was born Oct. 18, 1937, at Linton, the son of Lucas and Barbara (Krumm) Held. He grew up on a farm south of Moffit and attended the Buchanan Rural School. On Jan. 4, 1961, he married Delores K. Forderer at the St. Paul Catholic Church, Hazelton. They made their home on a farm northwest of Hazelton. Lucas made his living farming and playing music. He enjoyed entertaining others by playing the accordian. Lucas played for many parties and wedding dances. His wife died July 29, 1996.

Lucas loved hunting with his son, Luke, and fishing with his close friend, Farl Nelson. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was once again finding joy in his life with Bonnie Krumm. Lucas died Oct. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a farm accident.

He is survived by his son, Lucas Jr., Hazelton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa and Bob McCormick, Hazelton, Nadine Held and Bryan Schatz, both of Linton, Janel Held and her fiance, Mike Miller, both of Bismarck, and Jessia and Allen West, Hazelton; three grandchildren, McKenzie and Madison Schatz, and Ty West; his mother, Barbara Held, Linton; and two brothers, Jack Held, Fargo, and Edwin Held, Menoken.

Lucas was preceded in death by his wife; his father; one brother; and three sisters.
