Marcelle Strinden

GRAND FORKS - Marcelle M. Strinden, 98, Grand Forks, passed away May 29, 2009, at Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 9th St., Grand Forks. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Litchville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Marcelle was born April 14, 1911, to Teddie and Caroline Strinden at Litchville. Her birth mother died when she was 2 years old after the birth of her brother, Keith. Her father married Martha Eidsvig. Marcelle graduated from Litchville High School and from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

Marcelle taught for a number of years at Minnesota schools. For several years, she was employed at Fredricks Flowers in Fargo. In 1959, she moved to Grand Forks to become a part of the newly established Strinden's Our Own Hardware. She worked there until her retirement.

Marcelle was always keenly interested in her family, especially all her nieces and nephews. She was a devoted and loving sister to her brothers and sister-in-laws.

She is survived by five brothers, Alfred (Cleone) Strinden and Earl (Janice) Strinden, both of Grand Forks, Theron (Mavis) Strinden, Litchville, Dean (Catheleen) Strinden, Williston, and David (Ella) Strinden, Leeds; and a growing number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother; her sister, Ione; and brother Keith.
