MAX - Matthew James Olson, 33, Max, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2010, at his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Max. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Max.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.
Matthew was born July 8, 1977, in Fullerton, Calif., to Arthur and Sharon (McIntyre) Olson. He was raised in Max and graduated from Max High School in 1995. He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He was employed by Basin Electric at the Antelope Valley Station in Beulah.
He was engaged to Wendy Day. Their daughter, Peyton Lee Olson, was born on July 16 of this year. They resided in Max. Matthew enjoyed spending his free time with his friends. He was an avid hot rod enthusiast and loved restoring vehicles. He was also a fan of drag racing and raced in Minot in the past. He was always willing to help out a friend or family member in need and his selfless nature will be remembered by all.
Matthew is survived by his daughter, Peyton and his fiancee, Wendy Day, Max; parents, Arthur and Sharon Olson, Max; sister, Dena (Olson) Gillis, brother-in-law, David Gillis, and niece, Kathryn Gillis, Virginia; uncles and aunts, Donald and Carol Olson, Lincoln, and James and Deloris Collins, Highland, Calif.; grandparents, Patsy McIntyre, Max, and Larry and Anna Everson, Bowdon; numerous cousins, great-uncles and great-aunts and his close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Olson and Robert McIntyre; and half-sister, Jennifer Olson.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family asks that donations be provided for a trust fund that will be set up for his daughter, Peyton.
