Maxine Coughlin Obituary

Maxine Coughlin, 87, East Grand Forks, Minn., died Jan. 18, 2014, at Edgewood Vista, East Grand Forks. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Dahl Funeral Home, East Grand Forks. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, in the spring.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Maxine Coughlin was born April 30, 1926, in Norma, the daughter of Joseph and Maude (Lumley) Hagen. She grew up in Norma and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1944. She married Howard R. Coughlin in Sydney, Mont., on Nov. 5, 1945. She was a wonderful mother and thoroughly enjoyed raising her children. She worked at Pettibone School, retiring in 1989 then moving to Bismarck. She enjoyed crafts, baking and gardening in retirement.

She is survived by her children, Bruce (Laurel) Coughlin, Gilbert, Ariz., Sandra (Richard) Mahar, Minto, Greg (Judy) Coughlin, Chisago City, Minn., and Deb (Randy) Kottsick, Mentor, Minn.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Anita Borgman, Minot; and one brother, John Hagen, Bloomington, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; her parents; and her siblings, Lucille, Dorothy, Joseph and Doug.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
