Phyllis Elizabeth Bohrer, 66, Mandan, died Jan. 12, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Douglas J.D. Bergelin officiating.
Phyllis was born Dec. 30, 1947, to Alvin and Elda (Wiedrich) Guenthner. She graduated from Riverdale High School. She married Carlyle Bohrer on June 9, 1965. They lived north of Bismarck, until finding their farm in Oliver County in 1981.
Phyllis enjoyed life and had a way to make people smile. She had a witty sense of humor. She loved to have coffee and enter into many conversations with her friends and family. Her many talents included sewing, cake decorating, painting, floral arranging, knitting and crocheting, along with many other things. She made amazing German food and hand-dipped candy at Christmas time. She loved to read and do puzzles. Her favorite time was in the morning when she would do sudoku and crosswords with Carl. She would spend time looking out her window at all of the wildlife that the farm had to offer.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Carl; her daughter, Lisa (Rob) Pfennig, Bismarck; her son, Robert (Wendy), Mandan; her grandchildren, Dalton, Dawson and Delaney Bohrer and Michael and Carly Pfennig; her father, Alvin; her brother, Steve (Pam); and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother, Elda.
