Richard "Dick" Lynn Kimball, 68, Bismarck, died Aug. 14, 2002. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Rick Fossum officiating. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery, rural Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Richard was born April 2, 1934, at Mrs. Mineover's in Bismarck to Lynn and Florence (Taft) Kimball. He grew up on a farm south of Menoken and attended Telfer No. 3 through the eighth grade and Bismarck High School. He married LaVerne Eberle in Esmond at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was employed as a parts man and salesman at International Harvester in Bismarck and transferred to the Grand Forks store in 1961. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Bismarck.
He enjoyed reading, playing solitaire and cards, playing his guitar, and especially growing potatoes. He was a member and past president of the Farmer's Market. He loved visiting with family and friends and loved telling jokes. He especially enjoyed his granddaughters, Jennifer and Tayler, and grandson, Michael.
Richard is survived by his wife, LaVerne; his sons, Rick (Rhonda) and grandchildren Jennifer and Michael Kimball, Thief River Falls, Minn., and Rod Kimball, Bismarck; his daughter, Pamela (Mitch) and granddaughter Tayler Tharaldson, Temecula, Calif.; his brothers, Keith Kimball, Los Angeles, and Dan (Renae) Kimball, Bismarck; and his sisters June (Ted) Hinkel, Lincoln, Virginia Ritchie, Bismarck, and Nancy Martin, Velva.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Florence Kimball; his brother, Doug Kimball; his infant sister, Lynda Kimball; and his brother-in-law, Chuck Ritchie.
