Roberta Mitzel Obituary
September 18, 1945 - February 4, 2025
Roberta K. Mitzel (Bobbi), Bismarck, passed peacefully into our Lord's Kingdom on Feb. 4, 2025. She was 79 years of age.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, Feb. 13, at Ascension Catholic Church, 1825 S 3rd St, Bismarck, followed by a luncheon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be held in the spring at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Bobbi was born on Sept. 18, 1945, in Mandan, ND, to Robert and Katherine Pitzer. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School, graduating from Mandan High School in spring, 1963. She then attended two years of school at Dickinson School of Nursing, graduating as a licensed practical nurse. She accepted a job at (then) St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck where she was employed for the 44 years of her nursing career.
During her work at St. Alexius she evolved into just about all units, but considered her 20-plus years in Pediatrics her favorite. She often came home from work exclaiming to her family about the most beautiful, precious babies she was taking care of, often wishing she could bring them home with her. Many of the children she cared for became as close to her as family. Bobbi retired from nursing in April, 2010, after a wonderful tribute celebration at the hospital.
On Jan. 8, 1966, she married Bill Mitzel, Bismarck. The marriage produced three wonderful children, Jodi (Butz), Bismarck, Stephanie (Lacey), Minneapolis and Jonathan, Bismarck. The family was consumed by the outdoors, resulting in thousands of memorable fishing and traveling adventures during their 59-year union, which included several fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota, South Dakota and extensive travel throughout western America.
Bobbi was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Harry Mosbrucker and her sister, Loretta Cermak.
