Tim Steiner Obituary

Tim Steiner

After five and one half years of courageous battle with cancer, Tim Steiner, 55, Bismarck, died peacefully at his home on Oct. 27, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Becker as celebrant.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a parish vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church Monday.

Tim was born April 11, 1951, in Richardton, the son of John and Anna Marie (Greff) Steiner. His parents moved to Bismarck in 1953, where Tim and his family have resided since. On Dec. 26, 1970, Tim married Lil Marquart, who had recently moved with her family from Kintyre.

Tim worked for Midwest Motor Express for 26 years. Many siblings and friends benefited from his many talents, from carpentry to general maintenance, and card playing to fishing and hunting. Tim's first passion in life was spending time with his family, attending many sporting events.

Tim was a person of integrity, patience and generosity. Despite his quiet manner, when Tim did express himself, it was from the heart. When he gave his word, he would say "a promise is a promise". His generosity was evident especially when he could help people with projects which involved carpentry. With his love for woodworking, his motto was: don't be afraid to fail. These various projects were his way of being around people, getting close to them and being a friend. During his illness, he was always grateful to the doctors simply always saying, "Thank you for taking care of me."

Tim's love, dedication and support of his family were the most important parts of his life. It brought him strength and a great sense of pride. He possessed a strong Christian faith, which continually pulled him through some of the most trying times of his life. Tim certainly has left a legacy of kindness and giving to hundreds of friends, family and relatives.

Left with wonderful memories of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle are Tim's wife, Lil, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Troy (Shawn), Corvallis, Ore., and their two children, Spencer and Abbigail, and Terry (Jodi),Colorado Springs, Colo., and their one daughter, Raven; one daughter and son-in-law, Trasi (Ben) Buchholtz, Maple Grove, Minn., and their one son, Cedric; and five brothers and two sisters, Elmer and Betty Steiner, Bismarck, Stan and Joy Steiner, Boise, Idaho, Duane Steiner, Lakewood, Colo., Rick and Bonnie Steiner, Washburn, Sherry and Randy Slominski, Grand Forks, Susan and Bruce Jenkins, Montgomery, Ala., and John and Kathy Steiner, Jamestown. Tim also leaves seven in-laws and his mother-in-law, Margaret Bitz Marquart, Bismarck, Virginia Fettig, Napoleon, Florence and Joe Hilzendeger, Mandan, Robert Marquart, Bismarck, John and Theresa Marquart, McKenzie, Mary and Jacob Neigum, Bismarck, Steve and Mary Marquart, West Fargo, Vince and Kristine Marquart, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and 28 nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Marie Steiner; his father-in-law, Peter Marquart; his brothers-in-law, Baltzer Fettig and James Marquart; and sister-in-law, Angeline Marquart.

Lil & Family: So sad to lose Tim at such a young age. We have many, many fond memories of all of you and will always treasure your hospitality. Though Tim was quiet; he was a great person who was always thoughtful, considerate, kind, helpful and fun to be around. We will miss him (he was a super "relatick"), but since a cure was not to be, God called Tim to his Heavenly Home where he will no longer suffer pain. God rest his soul.

To the family of Tim Steiner
As a former employee of MME I had the priviledge of getting to know Tim.I knew who to go to if I needed help with one of the trucks because Tim was always willings to help. When I made deliveries to MME after layoff from them I will never forget the day I delivered some gas pumps that were brand named (The Happy Pumper)and every time I would deliver freight from that day on when Tim would see me he would say " well if it isn't the happy pumper." I share in your loss and be assured that when our time is here we will once again be reunited. The better life that being Eternal Life. May the Lord ease your pain and suffering in the Loss of Tim and be patient and ready to rejoin him in Life Eternal.

Tim and Lil were our neighbors for many years in Green Acres on North Washington, Tim would help our children when they would ride by tims house on their horses. Tim was a quiet and wonderful man. "In this time of sorrow, look up... for your Father in Heaven is weeping with you. Call to His name and His heart will comfort you." You know only too well that our Lord has held Tim in his arms from the moment of his birth on earth, to the moment of his birth in Heaven. Take comfort in that knowledge.
