Todd Wood
BISMARCK - Todd Wood, 61, Bismarck passed away on May 16, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 26 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1004 E Highland Acres Rd, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 25, with a prayer service starting at 6:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Todd was born August 22, 1961, in Waterloo, Iowa to Donna L. Wood and William J. Wood. He moved to North Dakota with his family in 1969 when his parents acquired King's Food Host which later became The Wood House restaurant. He attended Grimsrud Elementary School and Hughes Junior High School, graduating from Century High School in 1980.
On April 13, 1984, he married his soul mate Kathleen "Kathy" Mathias. Together they brought two beautiful souls into their lives, Timothy "Tim" and Devin.
Todd went from "King of the drive-thru, feeder of the masses," to a career in sales. He could sell anything with his beautiful, shining personality. His secondary career was as an ordained minister. With his passion for the love of marriage, he was honored to have wed many couples.
Todd loved his family deeply. He was forever bragging about his sons and daughters-in-law. Then came his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. He was privileged to have a little Grandpa daycare time.
Todd enjoyed the outdoors. As a family, we have many memories of downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking canoeing, camping, and kayaking. For those of you who knew him, you know he always had top-shelf equipment!
He fought a hard battle after his cancer diagnosis with courage and bravery. He inspired all to share life's ups and downs with kindness and a smile. Cancer is no fun. Cancer during a pandemic became extremely difficult for so many patients. Todd was one. As each patient had to be alone in their fight, Todd included, he chose to be a shining light for others with his awesome attitude and fight to survive. Todd created Tie Dye Friday! It soon became his mantra as his friends and family followed him through his journey. Todd's Good Vibe Tribe became a weekly highlight for Todd. He was a ray of sunshine to his fellow fighters; they loved seeing Todd walk into the room with all those bright colors.
Todd is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy; his sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Jackie Wood, Devin and Mandie Wood; his grandchildren, Tristin Wood, Trevin Wood, and Ella Wood; his father, William Wood; sister, Terri (Robert) Moreland; mother-in-law, Bonnie Mathias; sister-in-law, Brenda (Harry) Tyre; brothers-in-law, Bruce Mathias and Bob (Jenny) Mathias; nieces and nephews, Michael, Matthew, Liz, Sarah, Chris, Jon, Harry Jr., Josh, Jake, Alex, Marissa, Lexie, Taylor, Zana, Brianna, Daemeon, Haley, and Kaiden.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Wood; his brother, Timothy Wood and father-in-law Roger Mathias.
Our family would like to thank all our special friends, the Sanford Oncology Center, Bismarck Cancer Center, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the kindness and love shown during his special journey.
Memorials are kindly welcomed to Bismarck Cancer Center under Todd's Good Vibe Tribe or Lutheran Church of the Cross in Bismarck.

Kathy and family, I am sorry to hear about the loss of Todd. I had the pleasure in getting to know Todd when he was with Lee Enterprises. His positive attitude towards life and work was a testament to who he was. He will be greatly missed. God bless all of you. Patrick
