Wilfred Bopp Obituary

NEW SALEM -- Wilfred Bopp, 73, New Salem, passed away peacefully March 8, 2003, at his home. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial will be held at a later date.

Wilfred was born June 28, 1929, to Gottlieb and Selma (Schwinkendorf) Bopp, at their rural New Salem home. He attended rural school, and graduated from New Salem High School in 1947. Wilfred went on to attend Jamestown College for one year, but returned home after the death of his father. He married Alice Anderson on Dec. 29, 1951. Wilfred farmed the family farm for 50 years, before retiring due to ill health. They continued to make their home on the farm until his death. Wilfred had several part time jobs while farming, including one year of teaching school. After retiring, his pastimes were yard work, walking, reading, and listening to music. His son and grandchildren were dinner guests at his home the Sunday before he passed away. He enjoyed the day very much.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Alice; his son, Douglas; his grandchildren, Barrett and Allison; his sisters and brothers-in law, Diane and Glen Kuether and June and Chester Kaelberer; his brother-in-law, Ralph Slavick; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Clayton Anderson, and Larvel and Jeanette Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Arlene Kaelberer, and Sandy and Danielle Kudrna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jean Slavick. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)
