Cheryl Anders Obituary

HENDERSONVILLE-- Cheryl Delores Anders passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, following a long, valiantly fought battle with breast cancer. Cheryl was the daughter of the late Ernest Anders of Brevard and the late Mary Kate Watson of Hendersonville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Robert "RoRo" Anders of Asheville.
Cheryl was proud Tar Heel, earning both her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Education from UNC Chapel-Hill. She taught in the Hendersonville school system for many years, and served as an Assistant Principal.
Always active in her community, Cheryl was a devoted and faithful member of St. James Episcopal Church. She dedicated countless hours volunteering at the church thrift shop and assisting as a chalice bearer and lay reader.
Known for her dramatic and comedic talents, Cheryl was very involved with the Hendersonville Little Theatre. Her love for the theatre was evident to anyone who knew her. The roles she played included Artistic Director, President, Usher, Costume Designer, Director, and Actress.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Virginia Tuller Weiner and her husband Charles Weiner of New York; daughter, Jordan Tuller Smith and her wife Mandy Smith of Durham; and one grandson, Alex Weiner. She is also survived by her sisters Michele Anders and Deidre Murphy, and sisters in law (or "sisters by choice", as she liked to say) Amy Arrendell and Judy Ludden.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 27, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church Rector's Discretionary Fund. Her ashes will be buried at the Anders Family Cemetery in Lake Toxaway at a later date.
An online register book is available by visiting www.thosshepherd.com. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center are in charge of arrangements.
