Eddie Tolbert Obituary
Ed was born on April 8th, 1948 in Mt. Airy, NC to William Arthur Tolbert and Roxie Tolbert. He went to Enka High School where he met the love of his life, Vivian. He graduated in 1966. He served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise for 6 years. He served during the Vietnam War.
Ed was a master sheet metal mechanic. He worked for Thompson Mechanical in Fletcher, NC for over 20 years. His passion for baseball, the LA Dodgers, and Carolina basketball could not top his love for his 4 grandchildren. He took any and every opportunity to tell anyone he met how deeply proud he was of each of them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur and Roxie Tolbert. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vivian; his sister, Faye Messer of Edneyville, NC; brother Ted Tolbert and wife Becky of Arden, NC; daughter Melanie Blosser and husband Todd of Powder Springs, GA; son Alex Tolbert and wife Daphni of Orangeburg, SC and 4 grandchildren, Abbey Blosser, AJ Tolbert, Jake Blosser and Alli Reese Tolbert.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Arthritis National Research Foundation 5354 East 2nd Street, Suite 201 Long Beach, CA 90803 or Western Carolina Foundation for the Baseball team. Mail checks to The Catamount Club – 1002 Club, 92 Catamount Road, Cullowhee, NC 28723. Please make the checks out to WCU Foundation with "1002 Club" in the memo section

Vivian, so sorry to hear of Eddie's passing. He and I shared some great times working together on the Enterprise, surviving the big fire, going on liberty together and all. I just watched some old Super8 films from the 1970's with a snippet of you and he in one of them, when we were all in Albany, Georgia. - My thoughts are with you

Just found out about Ed's passing. So sorry to hear. Ed was one of my favorite people to play softball with for several years. Good player, better friend. Remember playing with Ed and Alex after games or practice. So sorry for your loss Vivian. I will be praying for you and your family.

Vivian would like to say how sorry we are to learn of Edd's passing. Wished we had been able to get together for visit but it didn't work out. Your family is in our prayers. What a shock to me? But we remember Edd how much fun he was to everyone! He will be missed!
