Gerald Philip Pasternack

Mills River, NC - Gerald Philip "Gerry" Pasternack. Born April 4, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. Died June 13, 2021 at his home in Mills River, NC. Husband to Mara for 56 years; son of Dorothy and Samuel Pasternack; father to Aaron (Nettan) of Stockholm, Sweden, Eric (Heidi) of Long Island, New York, and Scott (Deb) of Toronto, Canada; grandfather to Rachel, Ella, Gabriella, Noah, Joshua, Harlan, and Max; brother to Richard (Barbara) of New York, New York; brother-in-law to Judith, Toby, Eileen (Anthony) and Michael (Bernadette).

Gerry had PhD in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York; software engineering expert at Bell Laboratories and Citicorp.

Gerry was a great friend to many throughout the U.S. and in Canada and Sweden. Family and friends will remember Gerry as an extraordinary photographer, energetic music lover, avid bread baker, outdoors enthusiast, and world traveller.

May his memory be for a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating in Gerry's memory to the North Carolina Arboretum, the UNC Asheville College for Seniors, or the Mills River Fire and Rescue. Shuler Funeral Home of Hendersonville will be assisting the family.

I was just thinking about my old friends from my youth in Brooklyn. I was sorry to see that Gerry had passed away. While we have not been in contact in many years I valued his friendship growing up. My deepest condolences to you Mara and to your family.
