Kyle David Shirlin

Kyle David Shirlin, 19 passed away August 21, in Charleston, SC.
Born in Raleigh, NC, he was the eldest son of Dave and Karen Shirlin of Hendersonville, NC.
Kyle was the older brother of Emma and Trey Shirlin both of Hendersonville.
He graduated Hendersonville High School in June 2015 and moved to Charleston after graduation to pursue studies in Graphic Arts and Photography. Kyle was employed as a valet at the Historic Hyatt in downtown Charleston.
Kyle was a skilled photographer and artist specializing in urban art, streetscapes and abandoned buildings, and enjoyed all that Charleston offered for a young budding photographer. He loved spending time on the Blue Ridge Parkway with friends as well as being at Folly beach. He was a loving son, brother, cousin, grandson, and nephew. He was a loyal and supportive friend to many, and immensely adored his beautiful girlfriend, Cassidy Carter.
In addition to his parents and siblings, Kyle was loved and supported by an extensive family including: his paternal grandmother Linda Shirlin of Hendersonville, NC, aunt Kimberly Woody (Rick) of Hendersonville, NC and cousins Lauren Reed, Rachel Reed, and Kate Angel, Jordan Cox, and Lilly Morrow.
Also, his maternal grandfather Jack Betler of New Bern, NC, uncle Frank Betler of Raleigh, NC, aunt Anna Betler-Morehouse (Jerry) of New Bern, NC, aunt Theresa Betler Stankus (John) of Tornado, WV, aunt Pam Betler Kimberlin (Kevin) of Armington, IL, and cousins Jonathan Stankus (Stephanie) of Vine Grove, KY. Cousins Keaton Betler, Livia Kimberlin, Josie Vaughan, and Langston Stankus.
Kyle was proceeded in death by his paternal grandfather, David Shirlin, Sr., and his maternal grandmother, JoAn Betler.
A private family memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, August 27.
From 6 – 8 pm, the family will welcome guests to pay their respects at Jump Off Rock Park, Laurel Park, NC. Parking is available at the First Congressional Church, 1735 Fifth Avenue. Shuttle buses will provide transportation up the mountain, due to limited parking at the visitation.
The family has requested that no media representatives attend the events.
