Oscar Isaacs Obituary
Hendersonville - Oscar Isaacs (Pop), 83, of Hendersonville, NC passed away at Advent Health on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from COVID (SARS-CoV-2)
He was born in Deane, KY to the late Oscar Isaacs Sr. and Lawnie Hall Isaacs. He was also preceded in death by his wife Joan Gaynelle Isaacs, daughter-in-law Cheryl Isaacs, great-grandson Grant Isaacs, sisters Lynn Pauline Elkins and Peggy Ann Bates, and brother Zenith H. Isaacs.
After graduating high school, Oscar entered the Merchant Marines. He next trained to become a barber. He spent his whole barber career working in Tuxedo and East Flat Rock. Lastly, he was a small business owner of Tuxedo Community Store, then Hills General Store, while also working as a barber. He was also a deacon at Tuxedo First Baptist and loved gardening and Community Service. He always stated that getting to see and speak to customers was also one of his biggest joys and motivated him to keep going.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Joan Thiessen and husband Michael Thiessen of Zirconia, Deborah Isaacs and husband Dave Lipson of Riverton, WY; sons, Brad Isaacs and wife Veronica of Zirconia and Rex Isaacs of Travelers Rest; daughter in law Kathy Isaacs of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Jason Isaacs, Sheena Isaacs, Lee Isaacs, Luke Isaacs, Kyle Isaacs, Gracie Thiessen, Jacob Thiessen, William Thiessen, Austin Lipson, McKenna Lipson, Abigale Lipson; great-grandchildren, Tristan Isaacs, Bryson Isaacs, Kylee Isaacs, Shayla Isaacs, and Kennedy Foster; brother Tex Isaacs of Jenkins, KY; nephews, Josh Isaacs, Jason Isaacs Ron Isaacs, Neal Isaacs, Randy Bates; nieces, Savannah Isaacs, Paula K. Johnson, Alena Tankie Williams, and Tammie Combs.
A funeral service will be held at five o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Tuxedo First Baptist Church with the Reverend Mikell Bennett. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family asks that all guests wear a mask and maintain social distance. A private family graveside service will follow

In loving memory of Oscar Isaacs,
May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. He was my first haircut. I have known Oscar for my whole life, He knew my whole family. We loved him and he was a great man. We offer you our deepest sympathy at this time of loss. I will never forget how he loved antique Tractors and watched them on TV. We are all devastated by losing our friends and neighbor. I feel like I have lost a family member. I am praying for your family, God bless you all

To Oscar's family: I will greatly miss my times with Oscar. For twelve years I drove up from Greenville to East Flat Rock every three weeks to get my haircut. We got to know each other well as brothers in Christ. Oscar had such a calm, pleasant way about him and I always left his shop with a happy "see ya soon" and the best haircut in the Carolinas. We prayed together after his wife died and I learned that his wedding date and mine were just one week apart in 1957. I will miss Oscar but I will see him again. Of that I am certain. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Oscar was an amazing person. Started taking my boys there when they were preschool age. They still went there and so did my husband. Was looking forward to taking my grandson there. He will be greatly missed!

Dear Jennifer and family, I wanted to let you know I was praying for you with the loss of your kind father. I had the pleasure of getting to know Oscar when working at Hills General store in high school . I was more focused on talking with my friends that came in and trying out a different candy bar every day than being a good cashier! I remember him being very patient and always walking me to my car at night for my safety. My dad and brother have gone to Oscar for years for their haircut and my dad said he would still ask about me. So 30 years later I can recall these fond memories and I know you have so many of your own to help with your loss. Love to you, Lori

He was always such a happy and nice man we loved him dearly my husband and my sons went to him to get their hair cuts he was the best around no one does it like oscar could do it he was a great person..

I will always remember your dad's kindness and gentle spirit. I got to know him when my husband was no longer able to drive. Such a sweet man. Praying for comfort for all of his family.

Oscar was a good man. He was my barber and my fathers for years (when I had hair). He gave my son his first hair cut and many after. He will certainly be missed but he will be often remembered. God bless the family and thank you Oscar for being a friend.

I am so sorry. He was a fine man. He heart was one of the biggest I know of. God bless the famiy. Known him since he lived out the street from me when he and Gaynelle had Rex as a baby. Used to knock on the door just wanting to see the baby.
