Ronnie Blackwell Obituary

Ronnie E. Blackwell, 66, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Transylvania County to the late James E. and Bessie Arie Lily Corrie Gravley Blackwell. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James Elvin Blackwell Jr, Johnny Blackwell; brother-in-law, Wayne Beddingfield; mother and father-in-law, James Curtis Stepp Sr and Florence Hyder Stepp; and niece, Elizabeth B. Jones.
He graduated from Hendersonville High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He was employed by General Electric from 1968 to 1979, and later was the owner of Consolidated Parts. He was a born again Christian and was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Stepp Blackwell; son, Donald Wayne Blackwell of Columbus, GA and daughter, Shelly B. Bishop (Anthony) of Marietta, GA; sister, Mary E. Beddingfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Blackwell of Hendersonville; brothers, Tommy Payne (Billie) of Brevard, Harry K. Blackwell (Donna) of Topsail; brother-in-law, Glenn Stepp (Tammy) of Inman, SC, James Curtis Stepp (Pam) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Johnathan Owens (Samantha) of Easley, SC, Nathan Owens (Kimberley) of Hendersonville, Kaitlyn Blackwell (James) of Columbus, GA, Triston N. Bishop of Marietta, GA; great-grandson, Brantley Owens; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alumni Scholarship Fund of Hendersonville High School, or to Valley Hill Fire Department.

I will miss seeing Ronnie on Thursdays to deliver his "Meals on Wheels". He was a sweet and kind gentleman. Rest in Peace Ronnie.
