Rosalind Harris Obituary

If we are greeted by loved ones when we pass, there will be a lot of hugging, tail-wagging and purring today in, "the next place."
Conceding that it is impossible to encapsulate the legacy of an extraordinary soul in a few short paragraphs, please just note that Rosalind Harris was a soul whose life tilted the world's axis towards the kinder and the gentler.
While proudly a mother (Scott and Brian Harris), a grandmother (Madison, Morgan, Sawyer and Alec Harris, and Kei Carter), a mother-in-law (Tracy Howell and Marcia Conder), a sister (William Rosen) and a dear friend to many (special thank you to Brenda Bennett) she was also a splendidly independent and unique, compassionate and selfless individual.
Before her passing, Roz had to say goodbye to her husband of 49-years (Sydney Harris), her parents (Murray and Ethel Rosen) and her daughter-in-law (Deborah Krantz).
If mom, a Worcester Massachusetts native kept a social media page since high school (class of 1960), you'd see that she was a Cub Scout Den Leader, a Sunday school teacher, and the executive secretary for the Oak Park (Michigan) School District's superintendent. You'd also see that upon retirement she served as the president of the Agudas Israel Congregation
(Hendersonville, NC), a volunteer for Pardee Hospitals (4000+ hours), an executive officer for the Hendersonville Community Theater and a leader in both her neighborhood association and the area's, "Michigan Club."
There would be lamentations about the Red Sox and the MSU Spartans and clever ironic asides about life's absurdities. Mom's profile would contain pictures of her travels, her grandkids and the numerous cats and dogs that she'd rescued and rehabilitated. There would also be pictures of vegetarian dishes she'd prepared and posts from loved ones of mom alternating between her beautiful smiles and her whimsical "goofy faces."
If there is a heaven, mom will have an oceanside view with full accommodations. Thank you mom, for making our world so much the better place.
A private service was held.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send a donation in memory of mom to: Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, PO Box 8195, Asheville NC, 28814.

The picture that we have of your mother is very different that the photo in the newspaper, BUT the image you painted with your words were absolutely HER!
She was a unique and special woman - the words you used to paint her life were beautiful. Well done verbiage for a wonderful lady.

I know that everyone who was fortunate enough to know Roz will really miss you and it will neverbe the same without you. I was lucky enough to be an adopted granddaughter to Grandma Roz. I love you and miss you too so much more than you could ever imagine. RIP Grandma Roz.
