Spencer Weldon Reid

SALUDA-Spencer Weldon Reid, 87, of Saluda, NC passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stewart B. Reid, his parents, Claude and Ethel Hayes Reid, two brothers, Albert and Charles and two sisters, Patsy Case and Marsha Nell Reid.
He served in the US Army, taught school at Polk, Buncombe and Transylvania Counties before retiring in 1982.
Spencer was the sole survivor of the Saluda Charter Members of the Saluda Lions Club, was of the Baptist Faith and faithfully attended Tryon 2nd Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Isabel Bradley Reid; a son, Gary S. Reid and his wife Melanie of Saluda; two brothers, Hilton H. Reid and Robert Lee Reid and his wife Dottie all of Brevard; a sister, Georgia Ann Reid Fowler and her husband Adrian of Cashiers; two grandchildren, Samantha Reid Richardson and her husband Matthew and their children, Devon and Jordan of Forest City and Dusty Webb of Arden and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Tryon 2nd Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Jones and Rev. Lynn Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
