Terry Rhodes Obituary

EDNEYVILLE--Terry Eugene Rhodes, 69, affectionately known as "Paw" went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Four Season Hospice Elizabeth House. He was born on November 6, 1945 to the late Robert Eugene and Sue Nix Rhodes and lived his entire life in the Edneyville Community. He graduated from Edneyville High School in 1963 and began work at Dupont in Brevard, NC where he retired in 1991 after 28 years of service. He was also a lifelong apple farmer and retired from farming in 2011. He was a devoted husband and father who always put the needs of his family above his own. He was most proud of his two sons Bradley and Scott and his grandchildren Mercedes, Brandon and Nathan.
He was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and he had a deep love and respect for his pastor, Rev. Dr. Bryan Melton and his wife Tammy. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Patricia Simpson Rhodes who has been by his side every step of the way, whether it was working together on the family farm, raising two sons, or by doing his home hemodialysis the last three years. Although he will be greatly missed by his family and friends he leaves behind a legacy built on faith, family and community.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his two sons: Bradley Rhodes of Edneyville and Scott Rhodes and his wife Kym of Hendersonville as well as his brother, Kevin Rhodes of Edneyville. Three grandchildren: Mercedes Rhodes and Brandon Rhodes both of Edneyville, and Nathan Rhodes of Hendersonville. He is also survived by his nephew, Bryan Rhodes and wife Jessica of Edneyville; and niece, Lori Rhodes Zeman and her husband Matt of Charlotte.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Mission Hospital and the entire staff of The Elizabeth House for tenderly caring for our beloved "Paw".
There will be a Graveside Service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at The Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Bryan Melton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel, at other times the family will receive friends at the "Family Cabin."
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 29 Edneyville, N.C. 28727.
