Betty E. Melton

1934 - 2023

Betty E. Melton, of Dadeville, departed this life on Sunday, Aug.13, 2023, in her home at the age of 89.

She was born on July 10, 1934, in Aldrich, to Jesse W. and Margaret Hensley Welsh. Betty graduated from Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, and cosmetology school in Springfield. She was united in marriage to Ralph H. Melton on April 13, 1956, in Fordland. Betty was a wonderful homemaker and loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a member of the Dadeville Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jesse and Margaret Welsh; her husband, Ralph Melton; and her sister, Ava Welch.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy Vance of Dadeville, and Twyla Patton and husband Gary of Aldrich; her brother, Jesse Welsh of Ash Grove; three grandchildren, Joshua Vance and wife Amber of Aldrich, and their children, Andrew, Isla, and Sutton Vance, Justin Vance of Dadeville, and his children, Ian, Easton, and Fynnlee Vance, and John Clemons II and wife Lachelle of Fair Play, and their children, Lexi, JR, and Micah Clemons; and host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Dadeville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dadeville Baptist Church.
