Debbie Caufield Obituary

Debbie Kay Caufield, 65 of Bolivar, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Debbie was born on May 5, 1960, in Scott City, Kansas, to Bill Brobisky and Joyce Brobisky Graham. As a young girl, she gave her heart to the Lord at the Assembly of God Church in Garden City, Kansas. Years later, her faith was renewed and strengthened during a visit to the Berean Baptist Church in Bolivar, where she rededicated her life to Christ alongside her dear friend Anna and her beloved mother, Joyce.

On Nov. 18, 1978, Debbie was joined in marriage to the love of her life, John Caufield. Their union, built on faith, love, and shared service, became a testimony of devotion that spanned nearly five decades.

Debbie lived a life of humble service and unshakable faith. From an early age, her servant's heart was evident. She loved school and excelled in her studies. That love for education led her to a 31-year career in food service with the Bolivar School District, where she helped nourish the bodies-and often the hearts-of thousands of Polk County children. Alongside her sister Kathy, she also co-owned Sunflower Catering, a venture rooted in love and hospitality.

Her devotion to Christ found joyful expression in her service at Bolivar Family Church, where she and her husband John worshipped faithfully for many years. Whether it was preparing meals, decorating the sanctuary, or bringing energy and love to Vacation Bible School, Debbie was always willing to serve. Her greatest passion was sharing the love of Jesus with children-not only her own but every child God placed in her life.

Debbie's love knew no bounds. She gave of herself completely, never hesitating to put others first-even in her final days. Her family was her treasure, her beloved husband John Caufield, her son John William Caufield, his wife Amanda, and their children Hunter, Kayla, and Bryce, along with her great-grandchildren, Onalee, Elric, Korah, and Kotton; her daughter Alyssa Walker, her husband Clayton, and granddaughters Bailey and Macy. She also leaves behind her loving mother Joyce Graham; sister Kathy Baker; sister-in-law Jackie Caufield Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Bill Brobisky, and brother-in-law Chuck Marshall. We rejoice in the reunion that has now taken place in heaven.

A Kansas girl at heart, Debbie's love for sunflowers, flower arranging, and all things Wizard of Oz was well known. Her home and office bloomed with joyful reminders of her roots and her vibrant spirit. Summer found Debbie happiest by the lake with family-camping, fishing, and making s'mores. Her years working in the ticket office at Lucas Oil Speedway allowed her to share her love of racing with thousands, all with her signature smile and joyful heart.

Debbie's faith was the anchor of her life. In her final days, she shared with all who visited that she was ready to be with Jesus. Her greatest desire was for everyone she loved to walk in faith with Jesus Christ. She left us with a beautiful testimony, echoing the words of Dorothy from her beloved Wizard of Oz: "There's no place like home."

And now, Debbie is home-at peace, in glory, in the loving arms of the Lord. Just as she said, when her time came, she clicked her heels and entered her eternal home with Jesus Christ.

Well done, good and faithful servant. You are deeply loved, and you will be dearly missed.
