Gary Ikerd Obituary

Gary Dean Ikerd, 82, of Peel, Arkansas, passed away at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mt. Home, Arkansas, on Jan. 10, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1942, in Bolivar, the son of Henry and Dean (Basham) Ikerd.

Gary was at his happiest when supervising kids fishing tournaments. He ran the tournaments at Seeley Lake, Montana for over 10 years. It brought him so much joy. Gary fished nationwide in bass tournaments. He enjoyed old Western movies, old time country music and football. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Schmidt and then second wife, Martha McManus; his parents; his son Michael Ikerd; brother Bill Ikerd; and sister Sandy Butler. He is survived by his three children, Christina Martin, Gary (Heather) Ikerd and Brandee Wells; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; brother Virgil (Donna) Ikerd; numerous nieces and nephews and so many other friends and family.

Celebration of life will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Dunnegan Memorial Park, Bolivar.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Diamond State Cremation in Lead Hills, Arkansas.
