Janice Marie Cribbs

1950 - 2025

Janice Marie Cribbs, 75, of Pleasant Hope passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 5, 2025, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar. Janice was born in Polk County on January 20, 1950, to Newton Howard and Ethel Marie Cribbs.
Throughout her life, Janice worked in housekeeping at different hotels in Springfield, winning
awards for her work ethic and dedication to her job. She was always a reliable employee until
her retirement.
In 2005, Janice was diagnosed with stage four-colon cancer. She fought this with everything,
receiving treatments and extensive surgery for the next several years due to many
complications. Janice never complained and was able to keep living life for the next 20 years,
although the original diagnosis had given her only months to live.
Janice was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews through the years. The walls of her
home remained full of photos given to her by her loved ones, into the next generations to follow.
She was dedicated and determined to remain living with independence, making her own
decisions without interference. She loved deeply and kept a constant pulse on the news and
information in the community and our family. Always caring, and had a sixth-sense when
something was going wrong with her loved ones, making a phone call to check in.
Janice was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters, Joan Zimmerman and
Diana Cross; nephews, Darin Cribbs and Blane Asby; nieces, Rhonda Brakebill and Jennifer
McKnight. Janice is survived by numerous siblings whom she loved dearly along with over 60 nieces and nephews, over three generations, and a host of cousins.
I love you forever Janice, Thank you for the love and support every day, I will always be your "little pain."
