John Arthur Munns

1945 - 2023

John Arthur Munns, age 77, of Wheatland passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born July 20, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas to Arthur and Helen Richardson Munns. He grew up in Kansas City, and graduated from Center High School in 1963. He attended the University of Missouri-Rolla and graduated in January, 1968. While in college he met the love of his life, Alice Moulder, and they married in April, 1968.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972 as an Engineering Duty Officer. Then he went to Harvard Business School and graduated in 1974.

He and Alice were blessed with two children, daughter Dawn Alise and son David Arthur. But as much as he loved his family and his work, he truly loved the Lord. His purpose in his life was to simply serve God to the best of his ability.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen Munns; his brother, Stanley Munns and grandson, Charles Deeb. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Alice Munns; his daughter, Dawn Deeb and son-in-law Charles; his son David Munns and daughter-in-law Lori; and grandchildren, Hannah Deeb, Elizabeth Munns, Grace Munns, and Patrick Munns.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 at Hathaway-Peterman Chapel. Services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the chapel. Full military honors will be provided by the Galmey V.F.W. Post #9638.
