Elise Creed Obituary

Elise Lamont Creed, 88

Elise L. Creed of Sandpoint, Idaho went to be with Jesus September 3, 2025 in Richland, Washington. Elise Snell Lamont was born on July 12, 1937, in Moreland, Idaho, to Leon and Wilma Lamont. The youngest of six daughters, she grew up in Blackfoot and Inkom, Idaho, and graduated from Inkom High School in 1955.

After graduation, Elise worked as a secretary in Alamogordo, New Mexico; Los Angeles, California; and at Thiokol Chemical in Brigham City, Utah. It was through Thiokol friends that she met Richard "Dick" Creed at a casual gathering. A few months later, when both had relocated to Salt Lake City, their friendship blossomed-beginning one winter evening when Elise called to ask about dinner and Dick welcomed her to share a pot of stew. That simple meal marked the start of a lifelong partnership.

On December 17, 1960, Elise and Dick eloped to Elko, Nevada, and began their 64-year marriage. Together they raised two children: Julia (Steve) and Richard (Terri), and cherished their granddaughter Jessie.

Throughout their life together, Elise and Dick lived in Sandpoint, Idaho; Billings, Montana; Bozeman, Montana; and Pittsburg, California. Following retirement, they made their home in Sandpoint while Dick pursued consulting work that took them to the Republic of Palau, Hawaii, Yap, and Kosrae. They also traveled for pleasure to England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and across the United States. Elise treasured these adventures and the many friendships she made along the way.

Elise was deeply devoted to her faith. An active member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, she served as a chalice bearer and sought to live her life guided by the will of God. She was also a talented painter, pouring her heart and soul into depictions of wildlife and scenery. Many of her closest friendships grew from her love of art. She also enjoyed salmon fishing in Alaska with family.

Elise was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and a treasured companion on life's journeys. She is preceded in death by her sisters Shirley, Lucille, Kelle, and Elaine, and is survived by her sister Irma, her husband Dick, her children, and her granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Dover, Idaho on September 20 at 10:00 a.m.
