Jena Cody Obituary

Jena Cody, 36

It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Jena Maree Cody, 36, in her home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in Clark Fork, Idaho. She was born on May 12, 1988 to James and Lea Cody in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Jena was very active in her community. She worked closely with the Hope Elementary School by volunteering as treasurer for The Hope P.I.E. (Partners in Education). Jena was instrumental in securing funding for the Missoula Children's Theater so that the students had the opportunity to be involved in the production of a play every year.

Jena was able to accomplish many great things in her short life. She was an expert horsewoman. She was able to travel the country with Parelli Natural Horsemanship doing exhibitions, and clinics. She specialized in difficult horses, and always worked towards training owners alongside their horses. She excelled at rodeo as an all-around athlete. Her favorite event was barrels. She also competed in tying goats, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, and she represented the state of Colorado at the national high school finals rodeo in cutting. She was the state of Colorado High School Queen attendant and the Ute Mountain Ute Rodeo Queen. She also represented Colorado in cutting at the National High School Rodeo.

Jena was also an accomplished businesswoman, and was instrumental in helping her parents, James and Lea, develop many family businesses. Their most recent endeavor being Bay Builders and Excavation, Contractors Equipment Rental, and the Associated Trucking Company. Jena excelled at coming into a new work environment, streamlining efficiencies, maintaining compliance with laws, and ensuring that the business ran smoothly She worked closely with customers, sub-contractors, employees, and supply chain to ensure that operations always ran as smooth as possible.

If you asked Jena though she would say her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She loved her husband and daughters fiercely, and did everything she could to give them the best life possible. She could often be found supporting her girls in school functions or sports. She was often the loudest parent in the bleachers cheering for Rylan in volleyball. In the summer she spent every spare minute on the lake teaching her girls how to swim, surf, kayak, and paddle board. She also very much loved going on side-by-side adventures in the mountains. She was loved by all who met her, and she will be greatly missed.

Jena is survived by her husband, John Cody Mustoe; and two children, Rylan Maree Cody, and Delaney Jean Cody of Clark Fork, Idaho; parents, James and Lea Cody of Hope Idaho; grandfather, Paul Cody of Scottsdale, Arizona; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial for Jena will be held at the Filling Station in Clark Fork, Idaho, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 3 p.m., with a dinner to follow. The Cabinet Mountain Bar and Grill has opened its doors to all who would like to gather after the memorial to share memories, sing karaoke, and raise a toast in her honor.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund at P1FCU Credit Union, account number 10040000214882 to benefit her daughters Rylan and Delaney. Those who wish to donate directly to the family may also do so on the family's GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/help-cody-girls-in-the-wake-of-jenas-unexpected-passing.
