Jose Gabriel Gomez, 52
Jose Gabriel Gomez, of Sandpoint, ID passed away on September 20th 2025, at age 52.
Jose, known to friends as 'Gomie,' was born on September 3, 1973 to Maria and Teodoro Gomez. He grew up with his two older sisters in Pomona, California. While in California, he met the mother of his first four children, Berenice, and together they had Angel, Ashley, Jonathan and Zoe. They moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1997 where he began working with tires and met his lifelong-friend Jeff Little at Big O Tires.
In 2008, he met the love of his life, Sandra, and together they moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to begin working with Jeff at Little's Tires Pro and Alignment.
Gomie made an instant impact on the Sandpoint community. He was known around town for being the hardest working and most fun-loving friend, becoming a foundational pillar of North Idaho. Jose and Sandra married and had two children, Alexander and Natalie. In 2018, Jose and Sandra bought Little's Tires and began Gription Tire Pros. Dedicated to Sandpoint safety, Gomie fulfilled a life-long dream by creating North Idaho Towing.
Jose had many passions-spending time with his friends and family, taking razor rides, golfing, cooking, and generously volunteering his time. His time serving as Elks Club Treasurer, being part of the pit crew and sponsoring Super Late Model racecars, as well as cooking up customer appreciation tacos for the Lost in the '50s parade, are just a few of the many ways Jose left his mark. These are only a small fraction of the activities the local community will remember him for. He brought a calming presence to those around him, especially during times of crisis, always knowing the perfect moment to crack a joke and lift the mood. Jose was truly one of a kind-his spirit, kindness, and humor made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will never be replaced. Our hearts are broken, and his passing leaves a profound void in our community.
Jose is survived by his soulmate and wife of 17 years, Sandra Gomez; his children, Angel Gomez (Marlene), Ashley Gomez (Haseeb), Jonathan Jose Gomez, Zoe Samantha Gomez (Joshua), Alexander Dominik Gomez, and Natalie Love Gomez; his grandchildren, James and Thomas and one blessing one the way; his parents; his older sisters, Ana Garay and Sonia Angulo and his eleven nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his nephew Ivan Anthony Angulo.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3, at 12 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 30196 ID-200, Ponderay, ID 83852.
