LaFaye Linda Gornick, 80
LaFaye Linda Gornick, a longtime resident of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born in Anaconda, Montana, in 1944 to William C. Gornick and G. Lavelle Gornick.
LaFaye grew up in Hoodoo Valley and attended Edgemere Grade School (1-8 grade) before graduating from Sandpoint High School. She pursued a career in the electronic manufacturing industry, starting in production and moving up to master scheduler. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee who took pride in her work and achieved APICS certification.
She was known for her sharp mind, love of numbers, and meticulous record-keeping. LaFaye was also an avid reader, a skilled cross-stitcher, and enjoyed designing embroidery projects. She was well-loved by her family and known as "Favorite Aunt Linda" and "Aunt YaYa." She found joy in making baby blankets for family members and had a deep love for the Olympics, NASCAR racing, and movies. She attended both Hoodoo Valley Baptist Church, and Spirit Lake Baptist Church. She was a talented soloist.
LaFaye is survived by her brother, Gary Gornick (Evelyn) of Hoodoo Valley, Idaho; her sisters, Marilea Boncz of Meridian, Idaho; and Debra Alexander (Kim) of Hoodoo Valley, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews: Candy Trygstad (Paul) of Windsor, Colorado, Cary Gornick (Jennifer) of Hayden, Idaho, Cindy (Harry) Parker of Fremont, California, Chris Boncz (Erika) of Nampa, Idaho, Chrystal Logan (Ray) Meridian, Idaho, Michael Alexander (Kari-Lise) of Vashon Island, Washington, Nicholas Alexander (Hallie) of Cocolalla, Idaho, Anthony Alexander (Aischa) of Post Falls, Idaho, Meghan Mitchell (Tyler) of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Kayetlin Alexander of Bellingham, Washington. She is also survived by 25-plus great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lavelle Gornick; and her sister-in-law, Alice Gornick.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 27, 2025, at Spirit Lake Baptist Church, 32129 Third Ave., Spirit Lake, Idaho 83869). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LaFaye's honor to the Union Gospel Mission of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
LaFaye will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
