Michael Kopp Obituary

Michael A. Kopp, 80

Michael Allen Kopp passed away in his home in Cocolalla, ID surrounded by his loved ones on April 9th 2023. He was born October 10th 1942 to Ila and Russell Kopp in New Albany, Indiana. Michael retired after 27 years of service as a Chief Warrent Officer 4 in the US Army. He served in Vietnam and the Persian Golf War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a pilot during his career and his favorite aircraft to fly was a Huey.

He was an incredibly kind and caring man who believed in helping others and gave back generously to his community. He lived his life with gratitude for each and every day the Lord gave him.

He is respected by all who knew him and was loved deeply by his family, friends, and church. When asked by hospital staff what was most important to him he answered "my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and my family."

He will be missed greatly by his family and community, however his legacy of compassion, principle, and great love will continue to live on in the hearts of all those he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Shirley Bays Kopp, whom he loved dearly, saying, "it was love at first sight." Daughter R. Lynn Davis (Mitch), 8 grandchildren, Michael Theilen, Rachel Theilen-Knox (Mike), Daniel Rupe, Sarah Amos (Kaleb), David Rupe (Lafaye), Mark Rupe, Elizabeth Jones (Chris), and August McConnell (Floyd), and twelve great grandchildren.
