Shannon Louise Cork Moore, 62

Shannon Moore succumbed on Jan. 12, 2025, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to an aggressive metastasized breast cancer that she began fighting before the COVID-19 pandemic.

She had been moved from Kootenai Memorial Hospital, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to the Schneidmiller House, a Hospice facility, at her request, the evening before her death, as her doctor thought she might linger for perhaps a couple of weeks more. She simply went to sleep the next morning, probably because she wanted to, and never woke up. She was 62.

Shannon was born on Sept. 5, 1962, in Newport, Wash., to Jesse W. and Marylyn Cork. She grew up on the family farm in the Settlement at Priest River, Idaho, and attended the local schools, graduating from Priest River Lamanna High School in 1981.

She married Thomas Moore of Laclede, Idaho, Sept. 7, 1991, and they made their home at Laclede. They were the parents of four children, Tamara, Samantha, Dakota and Jesse. Three live in Washington and the youngest next door to his father.



Shannon doted on her three young grandsons, Dante, Bryson and Carson. She is also survived by her husband, Tom; her children, her mother, Marylyn Cork; and three siblings, Ted Cork (Liz), Betsy Hull (Kurt), and Tim Cork (Marsha) in that order; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, Jasper and Mona Mitchell, and great-grandparents, Fred and Zerilda Dunn, all of Sagle, Idaho.

Shannon was a good-natured, free-spirited soul, stubborn and strong-willed, who liked most people and empathized with the down and out. She had a kind and generous heart. She loved to swim in the Pend Oreille River at Laclede and enjoyed picking blueberries at the Laclede blueberry farm in the summer. She participated in many outdoor activities when she was younger and healthy, including gardening. In later years, she was wedded to her cell phone and was always taking photos of her grandchildren and the natural world, the rivers, mountains, wildflowers, etc., surrounding her. She liked to fish, and she loved animals. She preferred to be outside always and shunned housekeeping. She enjoyed living.

She was cremated, and there will be no service until the weather warms. She asked to be interred near her father in the Westmond Cemetery, Sagle.
