She was born Caroll Patricia Chase on October 29, 1955, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the fourth daughter of Allan and Elsie Chase. She attended primary and secondary school in Lexington, Massachusetts. She graduated early at the age of sixteen, and embarked on some adventures before joining the United States Navy in 1975. It was while she was serving in the Navy that Caroll met her first husband Todd Rambo. They married in 1977 and moved to Missoula, MT in 1980. Caroll and Todd had three children together during their fourteen year union, Sarah, Lisa and Nathan. In 1991, Caroll met David Thompson. He turned out to be the love of her life and they married and had two sons together, Joseph and Andrew.
Caroll graduated with Honors from The University of Montana with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1988. She became a Certified Public Accountant in 1989. She had many professional accomplishments over her 30 year career, which started and ended in Maine, however she held a license and practiced in three different states. She worked as a CPA for several different firms, including her own, but her favorite job was Auditor. She loved solving the mystery of the missing money. She served as an Auditor for the State of Montana, and as the Principal Auditor for the State of Maine office of the State Auditor. She also served as the Chief Financial Officer for the MicMac tribe in Presque Isle, Maine. Caroll developed many strong friendships with her coworkers over the years, and she continued to maintain those relationships until she died. Caroll retired in 2021 after working for over thirty years as a CPA, and over fifty years of being in the workforce.
Caroll was a smart and talented woman. She was diligent in her work and often crafted creative solutions for all of life's challenges. She was a devoted wife and mother to five children who will miss her deeply. She was an incredibly generous person who was always there for anyone in need. Caroll loved to grocery shop and she was very savvy when it came to getting the best price on goods. She loved cooking for her family, and was always ready to feed anyone who came to the door. Caroll was a very kind hearted woman who cared deeply for those she loved. She had a wonderfully dry sense of humour, and loved to discuss world events and politics. She had a strong will, dignity and grace.
We were all blessed to have Caroll in our lives, and we will treasure her memory for the rest of ours.
