Carol Schenck Obituary

CAROL JEAN (PRESTON) SCHENCK Carol Jean (Preston) Schenck, 87, of Boonville, MO passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove, MO. Visitation for Carol will be Monday, July 1 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Howard Funeral Home, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence at 3:00 p.m. Carol was born on February 17, 1937, in Oklahoma City, OK. The daughter of Eugene T. Preston and Jean Elinor Preston, she married James R. Schenck on December 18, 1960, in Kansas City, MO. Carol attended William Jewell College for 2 and a half years and went on to be a Medical Technologist where she worked for North Kansas City, St. Luke's (Kansas City, MO), St. Catherine's (Kenosha, WI), and Cooper County Hospitals. Alongside her husband, she owned and operated Hawk Hill Ranch Day Camp from 1975 to 1986 and Wilderness Canoe Trails from 1970 to 1990 for children and youth. In her free time, Carol enjoyed traveling the world and sampling local ice cream. She was an excellent campfire cook, bird watcher, and gardener. She belonged to Nelson Memorial Methodist Church and supported United Methodist Women, P.E.O., Boonville Women's Club, Boonslick Historical Society, Friends of Historic Boonville, Boonville Chamber of Commerce, and YMCA. She is survived by her children Peggy Jones-Wilson of Liberty, MO, Scott (Carla) Schenck of The Villages, FL, and Andrew (Jennifer) Schenck of Boonville, MO. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren Haley (Adam) Young, Kelsey Jones, Jamie Schenck, and William Schenck, as well as 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her parents, brother, Clifford Preston, and her loving husband, James R. Schenck. Please join us in celebrating Carol's life on July 1 at Howard Funeral Home, 1397 West Ashley Rd., Boonville, MO 65233.
