Edward Elgin Obituary

EDWARD "LEE" ELGIN Edward "Lee" Elgin, age 82, of Kansas City, formerly of Bunceton, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was born in Marshall, Missouri on January 25, 1942, the son of Edward Buryl Elgin and Charlotte (Moore) Young. He attended school in Bunceton, Missouri. He met the love of his life, Karen Kenworthy when they were 14 years old, and he and Karen married at the age of 16, and started a family. They were married 65 years at the time of his passing. Karen said they were blessed with their 3 children being born with the same beautiful brown eyes as Lee. Lee was a hard worker, working from an early age to raise a young family. He owned his own gas station and was an auto mechanic. He then became an airline mechanic and moved up to the Crew Chief Airline Mechanic at TWA Airlines in Kansas City, for over 37 years. He and Karen also owned their own drapery business, K & L Draperies. Lee loved to tinker with things! From working on cars his entire life, restoring old cars, to fixing things around the house. He was a tinkerer and a Mr. Fixer Upper. There was nothing he couldn't repair or put back together. He was a happy soul, and loved to make people laugh, entertaining his friends, neighbors and family. He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; his two daughters Cheri Willsie (Brian) and Connie Kennedy (Kurt) all of Kansas City; grandchildren: Steven Willsie, Rochelle Townsend (Brent), Josie Kennedy, Damion Kennedy (Candace); great grandchildren: Lucas Willsie, Madelyn and Parker Townsend, Violet and Christopher Kennedy; siblings: Lois Bishop of Liberty, MO, Robert Young (Ruth) of Bunceton, Sara Leonard of Bunceton, and many nieces, nephews and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Elgin; mother Charlotte Young; son Dennis Elgin; brother Harold Young; sister Betty Crum; brothers-in-law Charles Leonard, Roy Bishop. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m., at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Missouri, 1701 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. Memorials may be made to the Bunceton Lions Club, Zion Lutheran Church of Lone Elm, or King of Kings Lutheran Church of Kansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of Howard Funeral Home, 1397 Ashley Rd., Boonville, Mo 65233 (660) 882-3381. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com.

I knew him since I was a newborn, while I didn't see him much, there's photos of me and him sitting in his car and on a lawn mower, I also remember his laugh and how he'd say my name. He was an amazing Great Uncle, and I miss him a lot.
