Elmer Sanford Obituary

Elmer Lee Sanford, a long time resident of Stinnett, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Dallas.

He was born May 4, 1926 at Reydon, Oklahoma to Charles V. and Roxie (Laney) Sanford. Elmer Sanford married Peggy Naomi Castle in Oklahoma on December 16, 1946.

Elmer was a member of the Stinnett Church of Christ. In his earlier years, he was employed by Service Drilling. He owned Texas Tank and Trucking for many years. He finished his career by owning and operating a backhoe business in Stinnett. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Carson Victory Sanford who passed in May of 1971; a daughter, Nancy Lee Hicks who passed in February of 2018; a grandson, Tyrone Lee Hicks who passed in May of 1988; 6 sisters; 3 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

His survivors include: his loving wife, Peggy; a daughter, Penny Sanford Wilson and husband Mark of Dallas; a son, Tim Sanford and wife Maria of San Antonio; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Stinnett Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Stinnett Cemetery.

Mr. Sanford will lie in state Friday, June 1 from 8:00 AM - Noon at Brown's Chapel in Stinnett.

Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Stinnett.
