Joyce Evelyn Grimland David, of Clifton, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep early Tuesday, March 25, 2025. She was 90. Her celebration of life will be in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Burial follows at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Norse, Texas.

Joyce was born Aug. 3, 1934 to Irvin and Bonnie Grimland in Fort Worth, Texas. While growing up, she enjoyed summers in Clifton and Norse where she played with her cousins. She graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth and met her future husband Jerome T. David, a Korean War veteran, while ice skating at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth. The two married on Oct. 3, 1953, in Fort Worth. She and Jerry loved spending time at the family cabin on Lake Whitney where swimming, boating, and skiing were priorities.

In her working years, Joyce was a secretary for the Corps of Engineers and also for HUD. She and Jerry raised two daughters, Debbie and Connie, while living in Fort Worth, Bedford and at Cedar Creek Lake in East Texas. Joyce was the best wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was a superior cook and hostess, welcoming friends and family to numerous large gatherings at their lake house and entertaining with her quick wit. Joyce was especially known for making hundreds of Norwegian Berliner Kranser cookies every Christmas. Her trash mix confection was famous with the grandkids.

Joyce was active in the Spanish Shores Homeowners Association and served as president. She also enjoyed membership with the Spanish Shores Women's Club, the Cedar Creek Lake Woman's Club and the Study Guild in Clifton. After joining a water exercise group while recovering from a car accident, she became an instructor herself.

Joyce was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Clifton. She was very active with every church she attended and served 47 years as church organist at multiple churches, as well as the Sunset Home Chapel services.

Joyce and Jerry traveled to Branson on a regular basis and enjoyed extended driving trips to the East Coast, the West Coast and Canada. In retirement, the couple built a house at Lake Whitney, then in Clifton and eventually moved to the apartments at Rainbow Village in Clifton. She was residing at the Sunset Home when she died.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jerry. She is survived by daughter Debbie and husband Greg Schneider of Granbury; daughter Connie and husband Ricky Richards, CAPT, CEC, USN (Ret) of Clifton; grandson Kyle Stryker, SMSgt, USAF (Ret) and wife Katy of Abilene; granddaughter Candice and husband Hunter Heitman, TSgt, USAF (Ret) of Epworth, Iowa; grandson Travis Richards of Oregon; granddaughter Kelly and husband Cody Keesee of Odessa; grandson Russell Richards of Virginia; granddaughter Alison and husband Jake Blenden of Crawford; granddaughter Kate Lynn and husband Billy Yoder of Navasota. She is also survived by sister Carol Couch of Fort Worth, brother Ric Grimland of Aledo, and great-grandchildren Luke, Lily, Lana, Hudson, Harper, Haven, Emery, Collins, Judd, Sterling, Norman, Grace, Lily, Becket and Joshua.
